Subject: AEC Final Decisions: Due in 45hrs from now

Dear AEC members,

We now enter the final phase of AEC deliberations. We have read your reviews and discussions and posted a TENTATIVE GRADE ("did not meet expectations", "met expectations", or "exceeded expectations") in the discussion forum of each artifact.

We now need you to help us reach a final grade by getting back to us before NOON Monday PDT, about 45 hours from now. This is a hard deadline because we need to send out notifications on Monday.

Although each paper is reviewed by just a subset of the committee, the final decisions of the AEC, like those of a PC, are decisions owned by the whole committee. Therefore, we would like you to look at the TENTATIVE GRADE for EACH artifact and to decide whether or not you agree. Please pay particular attention to (i.e., read reviews and discussions of) the following "special cases":

* the three artifacts that "did not meet expectations": [XXX]
* one borderline artifact (tentatively classified as "met expectations"): [XXX]
* the three artifacts that "exceeded expectations": [XXX]

Here are the consequences of the three possible grades:
* "Did not meet expectations" means that the artifact (but not the paper!) will be rejected, and the paper will NOT include our artifact badge.
* "Met expectations" means that the artifact is accepted (note that the paper may or may not be accepted), and the authors of an accepted paper can include our artifact badge.
* "Exceeds expectations" includes all the benefits of "met expectations", plus, the authors will receive an "outstanding artifact award". This means we would like to reserve this grade for artifacts that are particularly good examples and can serve as role models for future artifacts (they don't necessarily have to be perfect, though). IMPORTANT NOTE: Please keep the information about receiving an award confidential. We will only announce that at the conference. Author notifications will not mention the award.

To avoid generating hundreds of discussion posts, please send ONE single email directly to the chairs (Steve and Matthias) with your (dis)approvals of the grades of all artifacts. If you do NOT approve of a grade for a specific artifact, mention that in your email, AND post a comment with your arguments in the corresponding discussion.

Please complete this by noon Monday PDT, about 45 hours from now.

Thanks a lot for your great work.

Best regards,
- Steve and Matthias
